 Life is funny. Really funny if we’re willing to notice.

If you have small kids you likely have a steady stream of comedic entertainment as part of your daily life.

My two are both funny. And think they are funny. Which makes them even funnier.

That humor that is a happy part of our days has its place in my journal pages. I love silly entries. They are a spark of light in the pages of my writing.

The pages of our journals are often the keepers of our doubts and fears.

But because they represent your life, there’s no reason for them not to have the funny parts too.

So, what has made you laugh lately? Or brought a smile to your face?

One of my mine is Ayla calling out “Fire in the hole!” You can guess what bodily function has just happened.

At some point in your life you will go back over what you’ve written in your journal and when you do, it’s nice to see some glimpses of things that have made you happy.

The things that bring you joy and the memories that you create with loved ones.

One of the simplest ways I know of to bring more joy to your journal is to slip photos into it. Pictures of people you love, or of you in a happy place. Sometimes just opening your journal and seeing something that makes you smile adds can give you a feeling of relief. That no matter what is going on in your life, you can handle it because you have people and places you love and you have an outlet to process what you think and feel.

Above all, remember that these are your pages and no matter what you write in them, it’s about your process.

And because life is full of happy and sad, good and bad, dark and light, doesn’t it make sense for all of it to be in your writing?

Prompt for today: What is the silliest thing you’ve heard or seen this week? And if you need ideas, go hang out in a public place for an hour or so. Something or someone will make you laugh.
