Day 19: 31 Days of Journal Writing

Crystal BallDay 19: What do you see in your crystal ball?

Do you ever gaze into a crystal ball seeking your future?

Ask a psychic?

Who can resist the temptation of asking the Magic 8 Ball?

Not me. When I come across one of those little boogers I ask it a question, shake vigorously, and anxiously await the response.

Most likely.

Ask again later.

Outlook not so good.

Ah, how those responses could make or break an afternoon!

Personally, I have found my own journal to be far more effective than ball gazing, sessions with a psychic, or shaking vigorously.

Not that I don’t like those things. They are fun and I once had a session with a psychic who started my session with a card reading and identified that I was pregnant and that it would be a healthy boy. That was the day after my positive pregnancy test letting me know Jude was on his way. January 8, 2011.

And if she had been wrong I would have thought nothing of it.

I can’t speak for everyone here, because I’m not everyone, but all of the stuff that I dreamed about in my journal became my reality at some point.

  • College and grad school.
  • Marrying and divorcing my first husband.
  • Marrying Brian.
  • Kids.
  • Ayla getting picked in the lottery for a charter school.
  • Working part-time from home as a new mom.
  • Getting a full-time faculty position.
  • Brian getting a job that would move me away from Tallahassee and allow me to work on my business.

Every single one of these big, milestone events in my life started out as a thought in my journal.

Guess what I do now? I keep writing about the future.

I write about the trips I want to take. Right now my focus is on spending a month in France in 2018 to celebrate my 40th birthday.

I write about how I want my own career to grow.

I write about Brian’s career too; it’s worked before.

It doesn’t stop there. There are other pieces that have to be in play too. Some of them are:

  • Belief
  • Your own awareness of opportunities that come your way that get you one step closer – and taking those opportunities!
  • Focus on the possibilities and in the face of failure, look honestly to see what you can learn
  • Gratitude for both where you are now and where you want to be

The coolest thing about these pieces? It’s all just more awesome-ness to explore in your journal.

Prompt for today: If you knew your journaling practice was a powerful tool for manifesting what you want in your life, what would you write about?
